Re: TAN: DVR vs Tivo
I have a TIVO and my BIL has a DVR he rents from the cable company. I
have had my Tivo for over five years. The first one blew from an
eletrical storm. If you buy the life time service, it is not
transferable, so you need to get the one you have fixed. Took over a
month. Second one got hit as well, so now we have to manually call in
- which is a total pain, but completely worth not having to deal with
live tv. We bought a second tivo/dvd combo unit. Bought the life time
service for it, and then it completely crashed. My BIL said his
crashes frequently, but because he rents they just send him a new one.
I would recommend Tivo, but considering the hastle when they crash or
get fried in an eletrical storm, at this point I might lean toward
renting from the cable company.
