NY DAILY NEWS/By CAROLINE HINSEY the editor of Soap Opera Weekly. 'As the World Turns" did a mean thing yesterday. The show left off with Emily shooting Paul at their non-wedding, and the action won't pick up again until Tuesday.

So here's a preview.

"In the second after she does it, she's like, 'I'm sorry. I didn't
mean
it. What was I thinking?'" said Kelley Menighan Hensley, who portrays
Emily. "She then proceeds to push his body over the cliff because she
realizes what she's done and she can't be caught."

As distraught as the almost-bride is, she still manages to cover her
tracks on the bluff.

"She wipes the gun and wipes the phone and throws everything over the
edge," Hensley continued, "and then proceeds to flip out for the next
couple of days, which was fun."

How so?

"It's not like 'You son of a b-, you let me go!' and kicking him over
the edge, which I thought it was going to be," said Hensley. "It's
more
laying over his body screaming, 'Oh my God, I love you! You're dead!
What do I do? I've got to save my own a-. Okay, I'm going to throw you
over the edge.'"

Emily is nothing if not resourceful.

"She covers herself and goes back to see her mother in her wedding
dress in this full-length white mink coat," Hensley said. "There's a
little bit of blood, but not a lot. She says, 'Oh, I tripped.'"

Emily also has a story for where her missing fiancé is.

"She says that he called her and broke it off over the phone," said
Hensley. "Obviously, people don't believe her. Then she winds up
having
to go back to the bluff because, of course, she left an earring up
there."

Viewers will soon learn that Paul is not as dead as Emily thinks he
is.

"We see him with Meg at an abandoned cabin, which is so NOT an
abandoned cabin," Hensley continued. "When Emily goes back to look for
her earring, she sees him through the shadowy fog. She's horrified,
like, 'Am I losing my mind?' She has all these flashbacks of
everything
that happened and she sums it up as, 'Oh, my God, I'm flipping out
here.' Then, slowly, more things start to happen where he is skulking
around town and haunting her."

Cue the back-from-the-dead corpse.

"Paul shows up to his own eulogy to see what everybody is saying about
him," said Hensley with a laugh.

"It's so psychotic and demented - classic soap opera!"

The part of Paul tormenting Emily might be fun... depends on how "over the top" they go with it. ;)

Can't wait to see next week, to see if Paul is in full revenge mode, and hopefully that Meg is NOT having her own pity party.
