In the real world, is it common for leukemia patients to be suffering
from no symptoms at the time of diagnosis? I mean up until now other
than his asthma, Shane has been a healthy active kid with no
indication of any health problems. He was on his way to a
sleepover. He wasn't experiencing any illnesses. He was attending
school on a regular basis. Is this realistic that someone can have
leukemia and not display any symptoms of the disease?
Do you watch ER? There's a storyline this season involving Angela
Bassett's character, who is now the head of the ER. Her 5 y/o son
fainted or something, and when they checked him in the same ER (years
before, Mark Greene worked on him) they learned he was in last stages of
leukemia without having had previous symptoms, and he died that very
day--usually the show is pretty accurate so I guess, yes, you could
develop the disease and be symptom free.

Of course you could google leukemia and find out more scientific
details. :-)

I watch ER it seems that they are going out by making me cry every
episode. Kind of wished that Doug & Carol found out the kidney was for
Carter, and they delivered it personally.
Oops, sorry about the spoiler! Wasn't thinking (I take care of my infant
twins alone most of the time, so mommy brain attacks are common! Thanks
for fixing the header, K!

And I agree--these last episodes of ER have been GREAT. I've been watching
since the show came on so many years ago, and while it hasn't
'jumped the shark', it IS time to move on--but I'll still miss all the
characters!

Sorry Carolyn I didn't correct the header for your spoiler I changed it for
mine <G>
