Have you tried getting into nntp.aioe.org? It is a free news service. I
use it as a back up when Cox flakes out on me, which happens more often than
I like. I access it with Entourage, which is my email program. Since I am
using Microsoft's client, I have all the ability to filter anything I want.
If you use Outlook Express (or maybe just Outlook too) you should be able to
access newsgroups with your ability to filter.

I'm on a Mac, and it's been a long time since I used Windows for Newsgroups,
but I know at one time I was using OE on a backup computer and it worked
fine. You might want to check into it.
