But this? Is unconscionable. It's one thing when we talk about our soap characters having karma bite them on the ass. But for you to say this to Suzanne, now... Well, words can't express my disappointment, and disgust. Although we've often disagreed, I've assumed that you were basically a decent person, howsoever narrow-minded. But I just have no words for how I feel about what you just said. I can tell you this, though: I have no wish to politely converse with you any more. This is just about the cruelest thing imaginable -- something we'd be shocked about if one of our soap characters said it.
And if your stripe of Christianity can really believe that God would make a child sick because their parent wasn't Christian enough by some arbitrary standard set by whoever edited whatever version of the Bible you go by, then I feel even sorrier for you, because that's a pretty sick and twisted view of a very loving and wondrous deity.
Indeed. I was left with no words.
Thank you, Aisling, for so perfectly expressing what I'm feeling, and thank you, Donna, as well. I, too, am dumbfounded at how a professed Christian can spew such un-Christlike venom. I'm shocked, absolutely shocked, Carolyne, by your disgusting reference to the tragedy unfolding in my family and your condemnation of my daughter. All I can say is shame on you, shame, shame, shame. Even when I was a practicing Christian and encountered the hyprocrisy rampant in the church I attended, I never, ever heard anything so heartless. In your defense of your religion, you have proven to me that you have no understanding of what real universal love is. May your god forgive you.
Xan, with tears in my eyes
Oh, please. Enough with the weeping and gnashing of teeth for false reasons! "Un-Christlike venom?! Oh, you must be referring to your
daughter's posts, and Donna's and...the list goes on and on.

Jesus Christ to die for my sins and YOURS at Calvary. "Real universal
love"? Is that what liberals call their intolerance toward Christians nowadays? It's so hard to keep up with all the pretty euphemisms that keep getting spun about.
You people sit there and constantly bash Christianity and God and Jesus Christ, and when I remark that God doesn't care for that sort of thing, you fall apart with all this pathetic anti-Christian rantings. Your daughter condemned *me*, Xan, not the other way around. There is no shame in my pointing out that her un-Christian life style may have had
karmic retributions IMRO--in your opinion, it doesn't. What's the big deal? Aren't we all supposed to tolerate each other and accept each other for who we are, regardless of what we believe in? I've noticed this doesn't apply to Christians for some reason, since again you all choose to bash Christianity. I will ALWAYS stand up for my God (with a capital G!! because whatever you worship isn't worthy of capitalization), and when the Holy Spirit moves me to speak/write what has been put upon my heart, then I do it. I did not write anything 'heartless', I wrote the truth. When you bash God, there will be consequences. I may never see them, you may never see them, but there will be consequences. The Bible is full of references to such things.
Did God *allow* Suzanne's child to become sick? Yes, I believe so. Does
He hate her child and did He *make* him sick? No. There are consequences
to our actions and choices we make on this earth during our lifetimes,
and yes, sometimes horrible things happen that make us turn to God.
Those who continue to turn their backs to Him must live with the
consequences of those decisions. It's eternal separation from God that is the worst thing that can ever happen to us, not personal injuries, or sicknesses, or losing children, or anything else.
I have seen so many of you on this group declare your pride and joy at being separated from God it breaks my heart. :*( That is your free will, your choice, but choosing God is *my* choice, and that of others who may not be brave enough to speak up against anti-Christian intolerance and bigotry that is becoming more and more common here at ratsa. I have asked for respect in this area many times over the years, and several people have gone out of their way to be respectful, although they are 180 degrees opposite my beliefs. I respect that. What I have trouble respecting is the way some of the others here continue to bash the good things about this country (the USA) and this government administration and conservatives and the Christian religion, not to mention me personally...how can people so bitter about so many things even wake up in the mornings and get out of bed? It's baffling that such ugliness even exists. :*(
Anyway, deal with what I wrote. You don't like it, fine. Disagree. Killfile me. That's what I do when the hateful, bigoted and intolerant remarks get to be too much. I didn't respond hatefully the way that some people have to *me*. I even told Suzanne I am still praying for her child's complete and total healing, but no--I am accused of being a hypocrite. :*(
In case you all don't know what being a Christian is, here's a few verses that might clarify for you:
Matthew 10 (New International Version)
32)"Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. 33)But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven."
