AMC: What's the stink about?

Am I the only one who's getting annoyed with the "stink nose" thing in
the park? Surely the bathroom stench has dissipated by now; he was
dead less than 2 hours before being found so it's not the rotting
corpse thing (that would last longer I'm sure). Plus the actual box
would have been moved to the crime lab as evidence. I'd also think
that after the detectives took their twenty seven eight-by-ten colour
glossy photographs with circles
and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each
one was they could restore the landscape.
