OLTL: Memo to Melissa Archer

Not that she'll ever read this, of course. It's not a rant, it's more
of a request. I wish she'd try harder, that's all:

I just don't get why Melissa Archer doesn't seem to understand - or
care, I don't know which - that she's got a plum role on a historic
soap. Frankly, she's like the juiced-up, tougher version (in looks,
anyway) of Viki's late sister Meredith (to counter Tess/Jess, who's
like the young Viki).

Is she not capable of taking an off-day and simply spending time with
herself, reflecting on her work, and challenging herself to be BETTER
as an actress on OLTL? Look at Bree Williamson. IMO, she was OK when
she started but now she's one of OLTL's bonafide stars. If/when Bree
exits someday for bigger things, I'll be sad.

Melissa Archer, if she'd just ignore the bland acting of certain people
around her and do HER best, could be much better. I enjoyed her scene
with Tuc Watkins in "Thailand" when she was waving the gun around and
giving him the "Ha, NOW who's in charge?" smirk. She was acting up to
HIS level - a tall order - seeminlgly enjoying every minute of it and
was showing that perhaps if she's away from the valedictorian of the
Blank Stare Acting Academy, Michael Easton, for a moment she's not half
bad.

The fact is, I like her as Natalie and I like the character. I hate the
way the writers seem to have no idea what to do with Nat and it's like
MA has herself put it on autopilot. Well, Heather Tom hasn't liked her
storyline either but she's acted the daylights out of it nevertheless.
That's the mark of a true professional and I hope that MA eventually
comes to realize this because I'd like to see her succeed on OLTL or
wherever. But that's her choice.
