Maarkham with two a's. I pulled out an atlas and couldn't find
it listed as such, so perhaps it was a caption typo by whichever
ABC techie was in charge of it.

The double a's made me think it might have been a Dutch colony
at one time, but the accent of the chief was all Oz. And placenames
change over time in any case.

Of course we're all assuming that the idiot writers did *any*
research instead of just pulling the name/place out of...well,
you know.

But I agree that the whole scene was cringe-worthy and had all
the earmarks of something thrown together at the last minute.
