it is very difficult, the metal part is a sort of upside down T shape that
is embedded in plastic and not meant to ever come out, I managed to repair
one by filing off one of the lugs on the metal bit that needs fitting back
in, it was then possible to hook the other lug into the fader, I used a tiny
bit of superglue to fix it, once I had established it could be fitted into
the hole.
