I don't think I've ever come across that one. Certainly a venue I used
to light at a lot which had an Arri (as you say actually ETC) Mirage
used to crash it from time to time. The cure was to do what ETC call a
"Factory Reset" which entailed holding 7,8 and 9 on the numeric
keyboard down whilst the desk powered up as I recall.
But it probably depends on the level of use the board gets. I assume
you are talking about Questors which is probably a heavy user by
Amateur Standards but not as heavy as the essentially professional
venues I'm talking about which have shows in pretty much every week of
the year.

You pays your money, you gets your own poison. But faders are a bit
impractical on the larger modern boards - 2048 faders on a 4 dmx
universe board would be a bit mind boggling!

Wouldn't disagree with that. But my point was that it can be done on a
pc keyboard and, if it's the only way someone can afford ...
