DMX optoisolator

Just lost a stack of dimmer packs. Opened them up: No isolation at all.

So, I'm going to build Kristof Nys' isoltor/booster, but there's no
isolation on the outputs. I'll be adding that.

The question is: He's got the output grounds all tied together. I see that
is a current path.

As DMX is balanced, is there any real reason I should connect Pin1?
