Wondering
if something happened to my newsreader or if
it's just been a slow week.....
It's been a slow week, but there were messages
posted on the 12th, 13th and 14th. Something
happened to your news server.
Thanks, Stephen- I figured that was what happened.
Odd though- I subscribe to several groups and this
is the only one that 'went away.' I think I'll try unsubscribing
and then subscribe again! Wish me luck...
Isn't it a bit oppressive to get your mailbox filled up with new posts
every day? Of course you have more control if you know the group doesn't
post much. Would it be it easier to browse the group itself and find the
new messages there?
If you use a newsreader and news server, newsgroup posts don't go into
the same mailbox as your email, even if you use the same programme to
read usenet and email. And it's far quicker and easier to use a
newsreader and news server than it is to use Google Groups, even on a
high speed connection.

I do use my cable company's news reader and have since I switched to a
PC (from WebTV). Never had a problem until I noticed messages stopped
uploading on the 11th. Still don't know why but am checking in using
Google but it's much more cumbersome and I don't automatically check
it like I used to do. Sigh.

You could always try subscribing to a different news server - there are still a few free ones around, like news. motzarella.org (http://news.motzarella.org/).

Veronica: Okay, I'm Veronica. I'm from Neptune. And I once shot a man in Reno just to
watch him die.
Dean: Oh, how'd that go?
Veronica: It was a bit of a letdown.
