the sentiment is utterly banal.
You can't tell what's going on in the lyrics because you haven't seen
it in context. (And, to be truthful, I felt the same way as you
before I'd seen the show.)
The moment is simultaneously frightening and funny, filled with such
foreboding that you just know a series of tragic events are coming and
this may be your last chance to laugh and release tension.
If anybody wants to name the prettiest, funniest and most original
shows starting with January 1, 2000, it's fine with me.
