today. When I imagine Angela Lansbury, to take an extreme example, I
don't conjure a picture of "Till The Clouds Roll By" even if I'm trying

Shirley Knight-- marvelous actress-- has had a similar career. Early
Oscar noms, Tony-winning stage work, movies and television. As a plump
old lady she's still beautiful.
Of course, every now and then, there's a delightful surprise in a new
production of a show. I never thought I'd see a Daddy Warbucks who loved
Little Orphan Annie more than Reid Shelton did in the original, but at
the Bucks County Playhouse in 1991, Stephen Newport eclipsed him in that
