This is a bit of a non sequitur, but I thought I'd throw it out there
for discussion.
Over the weekend I was at a large event, and at one point I
found myself waiting in line at the bathroom to wash my hands.
The line was slow, as usual (a dozen toilets and only two sinks),
but what was really holding things up were the soap dispensers.
They were the new "motion sensor" varieties, and in typical fashion
the event staff had them dialed down until they delivered only the
tiniest amount of soap on each pass, requiring you to use them 3
or 4 times to get enough soap to do the job. Additionally, I think
the batteries might have been getting low.
In any event, what I observed was that each man would reach out to
the device, stroke his hand rapidly back and forth under it several
times, and then with a happy little groan of electronic satisfaction
it would ejaculate a creamy white substance into his hand. I'm not
too sure why my mind made the connection, but I got some
seriously odd looks when I spontaneously burst out laughing
while standing in the line.
I may never look at one of those innocuous little machines the same
way again.
Made me chuckle. But did they have paper towels or those dreadful air-blowing pretences of hand-driers? That's where the hold-up usually comes in my experience.
