Re: Immortality sneaking up on us


In Analog Magazine in 1989 there was a story that deal with a similar
theme. The title is "The Gentle Seduction" and the author is Marc
Stiegler. The story is online at:

and was also included in an anthology with the same name.

The story holds up reasonably well for being 20 years old. I have know
Marc for many years and got to hear him do a reading from The Gentle
Seduction about the time it was published. The group for which he gave
the reading knew about Singularity, nanotechnology and related topics but
the ideas had not had as wide a dissemination then as they do today. I
noticed that at the beginning of the story there is a bit more
explanation of technology than would be needed today.
