Haldeman's "Forever Peace" comes to mind, but from my point of view it
has two flaws (SPOILERS AHEAD!):
2. Soldierboy robots somewhere in South America (Columbia?) are run by
operators in Panama. Why not in continental US? AFAICT, the only
reason is to make a suicidal guerilla attack on the operators
plausible.
To cut down on transmission time perhaps?
