Surprisngly???
I've run into lots of Chihuahuas in my life. And without exception, every one of them was high-strung and nasty as hell.
Ok.. surprising may not be the right word. But when you compare it to the "aggressive breeds"... a pit bull ranks at a bit under .5 for stranger aggression, Rotties are at .5, German Shepherds a little over .5. Doxies are around 1.3, chihuahuas are a little over 1. So the difference in magnitude is suprising to me. Especially since families with kids are much more likely to have a chi than a pit.
Only because the chihuahua is not physically large enough to be threatening. Its bark really is much worse than its bite. So the kids probably find all of its yipping and yapping and yipping and yapping to be funny, not scary.
Rottweilers have gotten a bad press. They're not really vicious dogs, though they can be abused and end up that way.
