So?

Thank you, Darren, that's exactly what I was going to say.

I wish it were so simple.

Skin color, in itself, is trivial, so inherently this could be as
important a change in the number of blondes, brunettes, and redheads.

However, while it is of benefit for the people of North America,
Europe, and Australia that their populations grow slowly, if, in that
same period of time, the populations of Africa, India, and China *do*
grow manyfold, that would obviously be very bad for them. These
countries are already having trouble growing enough food for their
people.

It's a bad thing for them if they suffer from overcrowding and strife
in their own countries. And, if we do end up admitting large numbers
of refugees, this will impact our economies and lead to social
problems. The liberal immigration policies instituted in Canada in
1968 by the Trudeau government, for example, have led to the emergence
of poor neighborhoods and street gangs in Toronto; just the other day,
several schools were locked down in Toronto due to a nearby shooting
which was apparently connected with a robbery attempt.

This sort of thing would have been unheard of in 1962. So, it is an
entirely legitimate question to ask why the government of Canada
gambled with everyone's futures, and allowed various social changes to
take place that have made our country less safe and less peaceful than
it once was.

Canada could have continued to exhibit itself as a shining beacon of
tolerance, like Sweden, if our immigration policy had been strict
enough so that not a single slum neighborhood could have had the
opportunity to take root in Canada - because the children of non-white
immigrants would all be the children of professors and doctors, not
the children of janitors or factory workers, and thus not liable to
join gangs or get in trouble very much.
