I've never quite understood that. Perhaps I'm like a fish who thinks
"So he can breathe underwater; nothing odd about that.", but what
about, say, Beowulf Shaeffer brands him as a Californian?
Are you confuding him with Pournelle?
More likely with NivenPournelle.
The Condominium universe was Pournelle's before the two decided to set
"TMiGE" in it.
