How did she mismanage Wasilla?

20 million in long-term debt for a town of 8000 people? That's
$2500 per person, and therefore even more per taxpayer.

Trust Gene to be totally non-specific in his answer.

Where is your cite, Gene? You know, so we can examine the
evidence ourselves instead of just taking your partisan word
for it.

Did one project go bad? Or was this a series of minor things
that piled up on each other that would indicate a long track
record of mismanagement? Somehow, I doubt it is the latter as
her approval rating would not be so high if it were. Is it
really $20 million or is it more like $15 million? Was it
subject to a vote of the citizenry? Did they approve it?

It's not difficult to imagine circumstances where she ends up
being the hero of the story, especially with her reputation as a
reformer. Could be, for instance, that a series of corrupt
predecessors manage to embezzle public funds that should have
gone to maintaining infrastructure, and it all came home to
roost in her term. Faced with the prospect of millions in debt,
or not having functional power, sewer, roads or other such
necessary things, well, it's not a hard choice.

But we don't know. And more important, Gene has no clue (about
this or anything else), and will flatly refuse to investigate. I
predict that he'll just stop posting to this part of the thread
than admit he's full of *** and spreading other people's lies.

As you could probably tell from my specifically targeted
questions, I know exactly what he's talking about. The
KOS-sites are bantering this around (as well as the scurrilous
rumor that Trig is Bristol's son), which tells us a lot about
Mr. Smith's sources.

It is an ice arena in Wasilla which she championed and that was
approved by the voters - including a sales tax increase to pay
for it [1]. There was some mixup in how the land had to be
acquired and a developer screwed over the city. It also was a
$15 million deal.

Yeah, it sounds like she got bad advice from a city attorney (or,
more likely more than one, including a developer's attorney). It
also sounds like, other than that, it was a damned good idea, if
it's half paid for itself within four years.

[1] Wasilla is a local shopping hub for the Mat-Su Valley and
generates more sales tax than the population would normally
justify and, since a lot of shoppers come from outside town,
that method of financing spreads the tax burden out throughout
the Valley which also uses the arena.

I'm starting to like her for more reasons that being hot, and
pissing off retarded Democrats.
