Oregon seems to be managing to keep out immigrants from
other states by skulking around the Fourteenth
Amendment, so people move to California instead. Nice
and warm, good beaches, no hurricanes, and you might
even see a movie star walk by.
I have relatives living in Oregon, who report
occasionally seeing bumper stickers reading "Welcome to
Oregon. Now go home."
Here in Washington, we have a saying "Don't Californicate
Washington".
Like the anti-California sentiments in Oregon, this is
largely in response to Californians moving to the Pacific
Northwest and overpaying for real estate (because they're
flush from selling property in the more-expensive CA
markets), thus driving up the prices for everyone else.
When I moved out here, our carhad Connecticut plates.
Locals cheerfully informed me that Easterners were just
fine. As long as we weren't from California...!
Oh, heck, no. We have lots of water. It falls from the sky
for months at a time...
it all down here?
Maybe we're just greedy?
Paying for the water really isn't an issue. It's getting it _at
all_, at any price, that's the problem.
Or maybe it's people in the low
population eastern bits, where it's high desert and
Californians don't move anyway?
So, you think we're taking water from the desert, in preference
to the rainy parts?
Just guessing that that crowd might potentially want the water
to go to them rather than you.
Sort of green and mossy?
