I would've skipped the middle man and gone straight to "atoms can't
think either".
Quarks can't think. Wait a minute, is anybody really sure quarks
can't think? The behave in ways I can't explain and do things nobody
can predict in detail.
That's why I went with atoms; the sort of person I'd be arguing
against either hasn't heard of quarks or has heard of quantum
mechanics. Atoms are so much simpler and more obviously unthinking.
