Yes, there is such a thing as a demographic transition, but Europe's
_current_ birth rates are too low to be accounted for by that alone,
since they're much lower than the birth rate of the United States.

        It's the other way round. The US's birthrates are atypically
high for an industrialized nation.

A low birthrate such as Rome, Europe is a sign of a declining
