He also continues to completely misperceive Gil.
Which seems prelude to a more serious fall. Or maybe a
series of falls followed by a bear-mauling, or something.
Plus, as part of his misperceptions of Gil, he's completely ignoring
what Gil's telling him about Agatha, and refering-and-probably-thinking
of her as "the Other" (or Lucretia). Another series of cliffs and bears.
What has Gil told him about Agatha recently that Klaus has ignored?
Besides, it's been months since Gil has seen Agatha, what he knows
is out of date.
Klaus has good reason to still be thinking of Agatha of being a
front for Lucrezia. After all, that is who he was talking to at
Sturmhalten. He missed the transition and probably has concluded
that Lucretia had been Agatha for some time (remember he didn't
have a chance to take a good look at the circus wagons as modified
by Agatha and thus noticed that the work was Not Lucrezia's).
Also too plus, he's not told anybody at all about the wasp. I *hope*
he's not just wishing that situation would go away. Presumably he knows
he has to handle the Other with very long range manipulators and class
five memetic contagion containment protocols, but he sure doesn't *seem*
like he's taking it nearly seriously enough.
Once that it is known that he is a revenant, he is OUT of power.
Gil will be stuck with the job of running the Empire (which might
not survive the revelation as well).
All in all, Klaus isn't really demonstrating any clear thinking,
or at least Foglio isn't letting us see it if he is.
Oh, I think he is thinking fairly clearly (for somebody who has
suffered serious injury); he is dealing with incomplete information.
Ah well. Possibly we'll find out what he's ordering Vole to do.
And Vole may be at least a bit less likely to run amok than before,
and be less dismissive of Gil than before (and than Klaus).
Destroy Castle Heterodyne (as in turning it into a big pile of
rubble) is the most obvious (note that he wants Gil to be ignorant
and NOT around). A large force sent in to search the Castle for
Agatha with extreme prejudice is another possibility (But the
casualties the Castle would inflict! Would the troops obey that
order?)
