I don't understand the question. What is the difference between a news
server and a news reader?
News servers are computers, usually run by an ISP, which store and disseminate Usenet messages. Newsreaders are programs which people use to download and view messages from the server and then upload their replies.
Newsreaders will not allow you to post messages unless you specify an email address which it prepends to your messages.
