I see that Michael Moor*** has been named the next SFWA Grand Master.

So I would say, that considering both his writing and editing,
Moor*** is an outstanding Grand Master choice.
(The other names that seem the most likely candidates, besides Wolfe
and Moor***, are Samuel R. Delany and Kate Wilhelm. After that I
think you progress to a younger generation, and writers like, say, Joe
Haldeman.)
I'm pulling for Cherryh after the old farts get their recognition.
Cherryh is only three years younger than Moor*** and born the same year
as Delany.
Good point. I think of Cherryh as being from a later generation
because her first work appeared in the mid-70s. Delany and Moor***
began in the early 60s -- both were wunderkinden, to be sure -- and
Wolfe in the mid-60s (and he started late).
