Whenever I want to turn the closed-captioning on or off, for one
thing. Which I do a lot.
Also there's the It's the Principle of the Thing! factor -- if
something's called a universal remote control then it should damn
well come close to being _universal_ rather than just being a "does
the basic things" remote.
