Re: dominant religions

Sure. Dragaera, Bujold's Five Gods stuff, lots of others. But Lord of
Light is clearly science fiction. Right at the very opening, Yama offered
up many kilowatts of prayer, but the static kept him from being heard On High.
By the typical "if it's got chrome and machinery it's science fiction,
and if it's got matte finished wood and stone and spells and stuff,
it's fantasy" rule, it's science fiction.

Of corurse, LoL has psi. But that's traditionally chrome-like.

Yes, the categorization is... highly debatable. But still. I took the
query to mean "science fictional settings", and particularly things set
"futurwards" of now, such as LoL, CoLaD, and IotD, since the typical
fantasy settings make it all too easy a question.

Hm. Would the Church of the Evolved Lamb count? Eh, prolly not.

Hows about the Orange Catholic Bible and all that? It sort of
illustrates the problem; most religions in futurewards-from-here
settings tend to be based on Jewish/Christian/Islam descendants.

The four points of the compass be logic, knowledge, wisdom and the
unknown. Some do bow in that final direction. Others advance upon
it. To bow before the one is to lose sight of the three. I may
submit to the unknown, but never to the unknowable. The man who
bows in that final direction is either a saint or a fool.
I have no use for either.

Rightly are you called deathgod, Yama-Dharma. You have snatched
away from me the ultimate experience. You have broken upon the dark
stone of your will that which is beyond all comprehension and mortal
splendor.
