Basically, think of a UN, but with an army, so it could actually enforce
its resolutions rather than waiting around for someone else to do it.

Given the kind of resolutions that the UN keeps passing, the first
place it would send its army would be to crush the first modern
democracy in the Middle East.

What is that? I'm not aware of any true democracies there (Turkey isn't
really Middle East).

And you'll no doubt trot out one of the usual lame-ass excuses for saying
that Israel isn't a "true democracy". There is, of course, no such thing
as a "true democracy", because the only reason for the qualifier is to
exclude all the pesky *real* democracies whose actions muck up all the
nice theories as to how wonderful democracy is supposed to be.

Israel is a democracy. The United Nations wants it to roll over and die
on account of that would be the simplest and most popular route to peace
in the Middle East.

Well, OK, let's be fair: The UN wants Israel to roll over and not die,
on account of the UN seriously believes Israel's enemies would not kill
a defenseless Israel. I'm certain there would be plenty of pious UN
resolutions condemning Holocaust v2.0 from the sidelines.

I'm a little curious how an Israel which didn't occupy hotly disputed
territories,

I'm not sure where you could put an Israel that didn't occupy hotly
disputed territories.
