Arcadia Darrell's homework scene did that to me in the Foundation
Trilogy. "Intrissassies"?

Would you have liked a Vancian-style footnote explaining what the actual
word was in Galactic Standard and exactly how Arkady had mispronounced it?

Oh, it wasn't just the one word. That whole scene felt entirely too
familiar -- the only exotic element was the voicewriter, while
everything else, from the word to the sash windows, was
twentieth-century American.
