It's most likely something from the golden age, or at least before the
early '80s (which is when I read it).
Memory flash - it may have been about an actor taking his "method
acting" a little *too* far? Maybe it wasn't telepathy after all.
Still, surely the trope "driven insane by telepathy" has been dealt
with before?
May be "The Parasite" (1953) by Arthur Clarke.
