Nicely put. But either Wells was a bad craftsman who was trying to
give the message that we all agree he was trying to give BUT messed it
up in the story by having the standard Tolkien like simpering good
guys Eloi against the unrelieved bad Morlocks(tapping into adventure
story conventions) so that the message ends up confused OR he was
trying to say something more and he was not able to get his message
across clearly as we are not on his wavelenght!. ;-)
I would like to think that it is the second alternative. Wells was far
too good to make a simple mistake like the first one!
