Gerry,
As ancestor simulations do not seem logical to many people, the
answers must
lie elsewhere. Has it ever occurred to you that we do not seem to fit
on this planet? That we stick out like a sore thumb? We are not
like anything that has ever been here before. Perhaps, this is not
our native planet. We don't even really know where we came from, we
are a race with amnesia. K.W.

Someone hasn't taken any basic biology, or read any Stephen Jay
Gould, or anything like that. Just sayin' here. If we weren't from
here we'd be immune to the flu and just about all bacterial or viral
infections, and there wouldn't be the overwhelming massive
undeniable-except-by-those-who-shut-their-eyes-and-
ears-and-don't-look-at-it-while-saying-LA-LA-LA-at-the-top-of-their-lu
ngs piles and mountains and tectonic plates full of evidence that we
are, in fact, just another set of animal, related to all the rest...

Oh yeah. Humans are bog-standard placental-mammalian-quadrupeds. Sure,
we've decided to only walk around on our back limbs, and our tail is so
reduced that it doesn't usually show, but it's all there.

As I would say about Niven's stories along this line, even looking at
gross morphology lets you know we're from here. Then when you examine
the DNA, well, there's no question at all.
