Well it's time to fill out Hugo (preliminary) and Nebula (final)
ballots, so I thought it might be useful to post a list of novels that
have won one or the other awards and let people rank how well they
stand up today. So here's the list in rough chronological order:

<snipped list>

I've read most (but not all) of these (and even have all but six of
them (four of which are pretty easy to find) in first edition
hardbacks, but I'll let everyone else have a crack at ranking them
first...

The ones I re-read regularly:
Robert A. Heinlein The Moon is a Harsh Mistress
Vernor Vinge A Deepness in the Sky
Vernor Vinge A Fire Upon the Deep
Ursula K. Le Guin The Dispossessed
Robert A. Heinlein Double Star
Robert A. Heinlein Starship Troopers
C.J. Cherryh Downbelow Station

The ones I like just about as well but don't re-read or not regularly
Neal Stephenson The Diamond Age
Frank Herbert Dune
Alfred Bester The Demolished Man
Robert A. Heinlein Stranger in a Strange Land
Samuel R. Delany The Einstein Intersection
William Gibson Neuromancer
Orson Scott Card Ender's Game
Larry Niven Ringworld
Ursula K. Le Guin The Left Hand of Darkness
David Brin Startide Rising
The ones I liked but not as much and don't re-read (or not very often)
Joe Haldeman The Forever War
Philip K. *** The Man In the High Castle
David Brin The Uplift War
Alexei Panshin Rite of Passage

The Ones I liked enough to finish but that's about it
Daniel Keys Flowers for Algernon
James Blish A Case of Conscence
Walter M. Miller, Jr. A Canticle for Leibowitz
Arthur C. Clarke Rendezvous with Rama
J.K. Rowling Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Gene Wolfe The Claw of the Conciliator
Isaac Asimov Foundation's Edge

I think I may have started some of the other books listed but
obviously I didn't like them enough to finish. On the other tentacle,
there are several of the other books listed that I might pick up
someday and love. The order within each grouping is somewhat
meaningful.
