Damn straight. Pius XII, in his 1950 encyclical, explictly stated that
evolution is not in conflict with Catholic teaching. JPII re-iterated
that statement. Ben XVI might not be real thrilled with that, but he
seems to be learning that a Pope can *not* just go do whatever he wants.
