In a collection of works that also had a story about a dog names
"Laika". Apparently Laika awakened his master and saved him from a
disaster in a space station?
Any thoughts?

Arthur C Clarke, "Tales of Ten Worlds" has Dog Star, the one you are
thinking of (var Moondog), but not Nine Billion Names of God. So presumably
some other Clarke collection.
This is just a shot in the dark, but could the original poster be
looking for the collection "The Nine Billion Names of God"? I have the
Signet paperback reprint of that, and besides the two stories mentioned
already, it also has Rescue Party, Summertime on Icarus, No Morning
After, Superiority, A Walk in the Dark, The Sentinel, The Star, etc.
etc.
