Discworld, wizards, and hats (some spoilers)

I just finished Mort. One of the characters was Albert, AKA Alberto
Malich the founder of Unseen University. It mentions when he prepares
to make a return that he doesn't have his hat. Was his hat the one that
was featured prominently in Sourcerer? It's been a while, and I don't
recall if they said that was the founder's hat or not.
