Recommendation - Simak, All the Traps of Earth

A while back, I was in a used book store and happened across a
collection of short stories by Clifford Simak, "All the Traps of
Earth." It is just a charming, charming collection.

I'd write a review, but this collection is full of wonderful plot
twists and I'd hate to spoil anyone's experience. To run down the
stories: the title story, "All the Traps of Earth" about a 600 year old
robot named Richard Daniel is incredbily endearing and Richard Daniel
is one of the must human characters I've read in science fiction.
"Goodnight, Mr. James", is a wonderful thriller with a twist and is a
movie waiting to happen. "The Sitters" about the peaceful influence of
aliens who have settled in a small town is Simak at his gentle best.
"Installment Plan" reminds me of earlier, 50's Heinlein, and the final
story "Condition of Employment" is about as good as you can get in less
than 10 pages.

If you run across this collection at your favorite used shop, or
online, I highly recommend it.
