I've resisted responding to this troll so far, but can't restraing
myself any more.
As a result, the Drake equation can have any value from "billions and
billions" to zero. An expression that can mean anything means nothing.
Speaking precisely, the Drake equation is literally meaningless, and
has nothing to do with science. I take the hard view that science
involves the creation of testable hypotheses. The Drake equation cannot
be tested and therefore SETI is not science.
The Drake equation cannot be tested? Huh? That's what SETI is!
SETI is unquestionably a
religion. Faith is defined as the firm belief in something for which
there is no proof.
For instance, belief that there cannot possibly exist any intelligent
life on other planets?
The belief that the Koran is the word of God is a
matter of faith. The belief that God created the universe in seven days
is a matter of faith.
As is the belief in God in the first place.
The belief that there are other life forms in the
universe is a matter of faith.
However, testing the possibility that there *might* be other life forms
in the univers is a matter of science.
There is not a single shred of evidence
for any other life forms, and in forty years of searching, none has
been discovered.
Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
There is absolutely no evidentiary reason to maintain
this belief.
What belief? The belief that it's worth checking to see if we're all
alone or not?
SETI is a religion. - Michael Crichton
Oh, now there's a credible source!
There's just God and his angels.
I'm guessing that you call yourself "Christian". Where in the Bible
does it state this?
Doesn't mean there's no life on other worlds.
Wait a minute, I thought that you were saying that there definitely
wasn't any. Please make up your mind. (if any)
Just means that we will
never hear from it if it's there.
What means that we won't?
