Re: RAH and Light speed

In article <1142269187@xxxxxxxxx>, throopw@xxxxxxxxx says...

:: It is, of course, true that if all fundamental physical interactions
:: are well approximated by lightspeed signals between pointlike
:: particles in a galilean spaceplustime, then you get the observable
:: behaviors of special relativity, entirely and completely. But that's

: Gerry Quinn <gerryq@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
: It is exactly the same thing, since clearly there is no other way to get it.

You don't have to "get" it if you've already got it; if it's fundamental.

Since the sub-discussion is about how to get it from a Galilean
spacetime, that point is not germane.

:: That Newton's physics could be extended with non-relativistic
:: phenomenia, and special relativity could not. I have pointed out two
:: flaws with that claim.

: I pointed out that a strong version of the principle of relativity
: (which was no part of Newton's theory) explicitly rules it out.

Yes. And again, I pointed ou why you are wrong about that.
Namely, that the rules that *generate* space and time cannot possibly
violate the principle of relativity as you claim they might. Because
the principle of relativity is a claim about space and time, and the
rules that generate cannot possibly violate it.

Laws that involve more than one level of description can violate it.
There are many such laws in science.
