I'm in Florida visiting in-laws, so I downloaded Unison and tried to
connect to the Comcast news server, which I apparently can't do because
my father-in-law's access is through BellSouth, not Comcast.

That sucks. I can connect to the SBC news server from anywhere so long as I
specify the correct name and password, and I don't think of SBC as
especially accommodating.
