Reasons that I sell (or give away) books: 1. I'm running out of room for new shelves in my library, and don't intend to expand it to two rooms. 2. Some books that I've read I actively disliked. 3. Some books that I've read were OK, but I realize that they weren't good enough to merit a re-read. 4. Some books that I've bought turned out to be second copies of books that I already had but hadn't yet read.
Quite. And in my case, add to the list
5. As 4, Except I *have* already read them. D'oh! 6. A spouse who believes in a weird concept called "too many books" .
I've repeatedly explained to my partner that this is one of those English phrases that actually has no meaning attached to it in our current universe, but she persists in the idea that it actually means something. Odd.
