Note that many "flavorings" are toxins; nutmeg, pepper, "hot" peppers,
are all thought to be insecticides (or insectannoys) evolved for
plant self-defense.  Just their bad luck they end up being
thought to be tasty by them crazy humans.

I read with some concern the note on 'Peppermint oil' (essential oils, massage, aromatherapy, etc.) that states it's neurotoxic. Several others come with note that they are abortifacient (sp?), which is where we came in.

There are a lot of substances that can be used on the skin (which is a fairly impermeable structure, all things considered; it's designed to be) that are not safe to take internally.

True, but these warnings were actually w.r.t. aromatherapy use, iirc. As for peppermint oil, I regularly take that one internally ... hmm, that may explain a lot, thinking about it. 8>.
