It didn't make it plain to me. There's nothing in your post that even
hints that you had changed your mind about the general notion that any
author that frequents this newsgroup probably isn't very good.

For that matter, you never said explicitly what you feel guilty about,
among the various revelations. As best I could tell, it seemed to be
about being mistaken concerning how good Ms Bujold is and how fawning
the commentary in this newsgroup is when the author is present.

Apparently, he didn't need to do anything to your post to make it say
something you didn't intend, and quoting the whole thing wouldn't have
helped.
