came back if not completely destroyed because of the chip
redirecting the remaining power and resources. That little bit with
the scalping and the screwdriver changed the whole picture. *


it's a lampshaded retcon. the only reason for that chip is for
ratings, because any sensible design, would incorporate the damage
control protocols into the operating system itself, especially for a
combat droid that's expected to take damage on a regular basis.

And where do you think the OS would be?

Ordinarily shooters are trained to shoot at the center of mass, so I
wouldn't put it there. Plus, if a terminator has internal organs, they
need the space. Next common target is the head, which is a small part
easily damaged. Put it in the thigh, and you have larger diameter than
the head, and more length so if you shape it right you can armor it.
