As for heroism... well that's what we sign up for. We all know the score. We
could get killed doing it, but that doesn't make us heroic (more often it makes
us dumb! :-) ) - it's part of the job. Real heros are civilians that do similar
things - they *didn't* sign up for it, but they do it anyway. I'm not going to
sit still and let you get away with calling me a hero, young lady! <looks stern>

So...you moved here to the US...and became a firefighter? That must be some
really interesting story.

There's a story yes - we moved because my wife got transferred to the New York
office by her firm. When we got our green cards we started having kids... when
we started having kids we moved out to leafy suburban Westchester. When we moved
to Westchester I started volunteering with the fire department :-)

Right now it's all funny suits; I'm going through hazardous materials technician
training:
