You may have the last word. Have a nice day.

Famous last words... I've just fought three structure fires (one including a
rescue of a 90 yr old woman) in 18 hours and am in no condition to argue with
anyone about anything! If that was a nice day I'd hate to have a bad day :-)

(It's all Joe's fault anyway; ASM 36 had at least a little to do with me
becoming a firefighter..) <<

Mike...you're a firefighter?

A tired one tonight but yes... http://www.corestore.org/fd.htm for my sins!

Okay, you get a total pass from me the next
time we disagree about something. :-) You guys are amazingly brave, and I
have nothing but respect and admiration for what you do. When people throw
around the term 'hero' willy-nilly, I always think that firefighters (and
cops) are the ones who really deserve the moniker.

I appreciate the sentiment, truly, but... in that case... can we disagree on the
term 'hero' then? Please? :-)

OK individual firefighters may do individually courageous things at some points
but it's 99.99% *teamwork*. We're really not comfortable with this 'hero'
thing...

Having said all that, if you do want to see a hero you don't need to look
further than this guy:

'Some things can't be downsized' as the author says. I ran for him this year (
http://www.corestore.org/ttt08.htm ) along with literally thousands of other
firefighters from all over the world.

(just for entertainment, this was the first of the three fires:
