I think you're missing the point. You said that you had a copy sent from the
US after it aired there. Presumably, that means it wasn't yet showing in the
UK. That's why it's an infringement. It wasn't an infringement for me to
watch the show as broadcast live -- or even from a tape, if we had done that
-- at the home of friends in the US because I did that when it _legally
aired_.

Unless I'm misunderstanding completely and you're saying that you had this
private home showing with an official WB Home Video VHS copy, purchased from
a store selling it legitimately?

I'm sorry that some people are so put out by my simply mentioning a fact. If
the simple recitation of the law makes someone feel 'quite ill,' I don't know
where to start really.
