The problem is that Wikipedia is a war of attrition. When it comes to
controversial subjects like Microsoft, going to a "source" that will
say whatever the patient and obsessive what it to say is a bad idea.
Or do you not know how Wikipedia works?
Gates? Gates wrote a version of Basic. His programming skills have
little bearing on Microsoft.
That is completely wrong. Suggest you read _In Search of Stupidity_.
It is not a book friendly to Microsoft but certainly debunks the line
your carrying here. One of the reasons Microsoft has been so
successful is because the guy calling the shots for such a long time
understood the long-term consequences of the choices the development
teams made.
Also, in fairness, Microsoft has been found again and again to have
violated the anti-trust law, whereas Apple has not.
So what? Apple is a smaller target. Apple's actions, such as suing
bloggers who talk too much about Apple's R&D, are worse than
Microsoft's ever were. But Apple is viewed as a poor, bullied child
next to Microsoft, so its anti-competitive and downright dirty tactics
don't get all that much attention.
